KATY JARZEBOWSKI is a composer for film & ballet. Her music turns stories into jolts of sound, erasing the line between concert hall, movie screen, and experimental stage.
Since 2020, Katy has collaborated with choreographer Emily Adams on exploring a bold, cinematic vision for dance. Their debut ballet, THE THING WITH FEATHERS—commissioned by Ballet West in partnership with Sundance—sparked a run of fresh commissions from Richmond Ballet and The Rosin Box Project, each work twisting classical form into new-school mythmaking.
Katy’s film scores include MTV’s Emmy-winning documentary THE FIRE THAT TOOK HER (IDA Best Score nomination), Hollywood Music in Media Award–winner BUBJAN, Tribeca favorite CLEMENTINE (soundtrack via Infinite Companion), and the Emmy-nominated IN THE DARK OF THE VALLEY for MSNBC Films. She’s currently scoring two hot-ticket docs: ALL ILLUSIONS MUST BE BROKEN—produced by Terrence Malick, Robert Redford, and Nick Offerman—and ON THE LINE: THE RICHARD WILLIAMS STORY. Her most recent project, SLUMLORD MILLIONAIRE (PBS), will air on the VOCES series in July 2025 . Past credits stretch from Jon Stewart’s refugee chronicle AFTER SPRING (STARZ) to the Mark Rylance-fronted NOTHING IS TRUER THAN TRUTH and the sci-fi sleeper hit LIFE LIKE.
A Yale grad with an M.M. from NYU (where she studied under Pulitzer winner Julia Wolfe), she first caught industry attention as a 2014 Sundance Music & Sound Design Lab fellow at Skywalker Sound and, more recently, as a 2024 Berlinale Talent.
